Wednesday 5/20: Went to Fenway for the Bicknell’s. Super cooperative plus finally got a Suffolk Mourning Warbler in the same plot. A few other warblers, a Least Flycatcher, probably more that I didn’t pay attention to. Also had Spot-winged Gliders walking back to the car.
Thursday 5/21: Did the walking day I had wanted to do Tuesday. Falzone had an Alder (#168 on foot), a few redstarts, and not too much else. West Meadow was quiet. BBN had a few more warblers, FOY Willow Flycatcher, and a few raptors. Return trip was fairly quiet. Ended up with 66 species, not too bad considering minimal migrants and didn’t have time to go to Rock Meadow or the ponds.
Friday 5/22: Forest Grove had a few warblers, an Orchard Oriole or two, a couple Willow Flycatchers, etc.
Saturday 5/23: Tried the Melrose/Malden side of the Fells. Zero migration (one Ovenbird was the only warbler) but got a few more to get Melrose up to 10 new on the year. Also wondering if 5 miles is too far to scope anything on Revere Beach as there were a couple points where the pink apartments were visible. Quick stop at Fellsmere Pond added Rough-winged Swallow, which got me to 10 in Malden too. Earhart after had FOY Common Tern, a YC Night Heron, and Alder and Willow Flycatchers.
Sunday 5/24: Led a walk at Great Meadows. Heard rails, saw the Prothonotary, most of the usual stuff. Weather mostly held out. Quick loop around after had nothing.
Monday 5/25: Tried Great Meadows again for anything dropping in from the rain. Had a Cliff Swallow but no weather related birds (should have gone after instead of before). Got a bit soaked and didn’t see anything at any of the ponds on the way home.
Tuesday 5/26: Semipalmated Plover was nice at BBN. As was a Bank Swallow.
