Wednesday 11/12: Res had a ton of ducks and a Bonaparte’s Gull. Arlington Res had more ducks but nothing at the farm. Hardy had lots of Ruddy and Bufflehead and a couple scaup.
Thursday 11/13: Nothing at Cookson. Not much along the river, but walking back I heard an Evening Grosbeak calling and eventually found it. ‘Commute’ #190! Record tied. Still a few ducks, RT Loon, maybe a gull or two, a couple owls, shrike, Snow Bunting, and a couple finches possible, so it’s unlikely but 200 isn’t impossible still.
Friday 11/14: Started at Hanscom. Gaining Ground was pretty birdy although nothing exciting. Work crews were on the trails, so I only circled behind the big field. Woodcock was the highlight although a distant call was probably another grosbeak. With time, checked Elm Brook (bunch of wigeon), Flint’s (nothing), and the res (nothing).
Saturday 11/15: Started at Westboro. Could hear some hunting, so stuck to the Chauncy edge. Catbird, Winter Wren, Evening Grosbeak, Rusty, a few ducks, etc. Sudbury Reservoir next. Not too many ducks and not much on land. Checked some more ponds on the way home but nothing of note.
Sunday 11/16: Expected some movement, so tried the Old 27 Bridge. Almost nothing in the sky, couple Fox Sparrows on the bridge. Walked some of Water Row next, another Fox Sparrow or two about it (meadowhawks still around though). Had time, so went out to Maynard. Rockland Ave had Swamp Sparrows but the wind kicked in and activity shut down. Checked Mill Pond a couple times, walked a bit of the rail trail, and saw nothing. Pulled in at School St and had a male harrier on the Wetherbee side but no birds on the School St side.
Monday 11/17: Siskin, Chipping Sparrow, wind at BBN. Ton of Hoodies at the res, not much else.
Tuesday 11/18: Dunback had a couple Purple Finches, a Fox Sparrow, a Hermit Thrush, a few Yellow-rumps, at least one yellowthroat, and a likely Red-shoulder.
